3-2-1 backup
Why backup in any company is so important? We have already explained it here. But what is a 3-2-1 backup?
Having one backup is the bare minimum to ensure a minimum level of security for your data. However, it is most beneficial to have 3 copies in 3 different locations, that is to follow the 3-2-1 rule.
what is it based on?
In a nutshell, the 3-2-1 backup rule dictates that data must be stored:
- In 3 different copies,
- On 2 different media,
- Including 1 copy off-site for disaster recovery.
By using 3-2-1 backup, your company achieves a very high level of security, ensuring the insanely important business continuity. This is because at least 1 copy of your data is accessible from outside your infrastructure. This will ensure that your data is protected in the event of a ransomware attack or other type of failure or disaster.
WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?
There has been a tremendous increase in cyber attacks around the world. Particularly dangerous and widespread are ransomware attacks, which are taking an increasing toll every year. What we can do is to prepare our customers for the next versions of them, which will effectively bypass the security measures used so far.
Statistics say that as many as 75% of ransomware-infected companies were using up-to-date endpoint protection. Unfortunately, the attacks also affect very aware companies that also use an active firewall with traffic filtering, authentication and verification services for users and their computers based on the Microsoft domain, antivirus software, or VPN connections to the company.
